Hornby Railways is a British model railway brand with it's roots dating back to 1901 when founder Frank Hornby received a patent for his Mecanno construction toy. The first clockwork train was produced in 1920 and in 1938, Hornby launched its first 00 gauge train. In 1964, Hornby and Meccano were bought by their competitor, Tri-Ang, and later sold on when Tri-ang went into receivership. Hornby Railways became independent in the 1980s and have been one of the most recognised names in the model railway industry throughout their history.
Our range of Hornby model railway locomotives comprise rolling stock from their budget Railroad range as well as the more detailed range of steam and diesel locomotives, in both new and second-hand condition. We also stock a good range of their rolling stock too. A great way to get into the model railway hobby is to buy a train set and Hornby have a great range of train sets, both digital and analogue, with which to get started. They come complete with everything necessary to get going out of the box and are complicated by a series of extension packs which transform the train set into a small layout.
